Thanksgiving Travels

Some friends and I went on a road trip for Thanksgiving break.  After a few hours of driving through the beautiful Austrian countryside, we arrived in Bled, Slovenia.  Here's a few photos from our trip!

Lake Bled is absolutely gorgeous.
We enjoyed a walk around the  lake one morning

Those who wish to visit the island and church in the
middle of the lake can travel there on one of these boats

With the Italian border so close by, we couldn't resist a spur of the moment trip to Trieste, Italy

Our final stop before returning to Prague was Salzburg, Austria.  We were just driving through on the way home, so our visit was brief, but it was enough to convince me to come back sometime.  Salzburg is so beautiful and the Christmas markets made it even better!

I love Christmastime!

This was one of many nativity scenes displayed.
Each was beautifully and uniqued designed,

CISP Election Day

Due to the U.S. elections this year, the 6th grade teacher and I paired our students and gave them an opportunity to participate in our own election.  Each group picked a famous person to research and promote for "president" of CISP.  We then invited the whole school to a special assembly where our students gave short campaign speeches and every student and staff member voted for "president."

My students did such a great job! I was beaming with pride the whole time!

The school is ready for the "campaigners" to give their speeches

Meanwhile, our students anxiously wait outside

The campaigners have their speeches prepared

Me introducing the election and candidates

First candidate- Napoleon!

Robert E. Lee

Walt Disney

And his brother Roy Disney

Neil Armstrong

Other candidates not pictured included Eric the Red, Helen Keller, and Christopher Columbus.
Overall, the election was  success.  The students worked hard to research their historical figures, create a campaign poster (posted behind the students), and write a speech to convince the school to vote for their candidates.   It was close vote, but Walt Disney came out on top!
